A seven amino-acid peptide, angiotensin III, is released by protease cleavage of angiotensin II. The role of angiotensin III in man is controversial; in many species, it has been shown to be at least as potent as angiotensin II in stimulating aldosterone secretion, although it has less pressor activity.
